Whatever their ancestry they are a part of our culture now. Yet dogs have been the companions since time immemorial. It was probably since 10,000BC! They have common ancestry with wolves and jackals. They have proved themselves by their distinguished service. One can think of St. Bernards for example who rescue stranded people from the alpine mountains. There are also dogs used by police and investigative teams. They do all sorts of activities. Nowadays they are also used for therapy like prediction of seizure and epilepsy related fit. Some dogs are even trained to sniff out cancer while still others are used by exterminators.
