I have issues with that and haven’t felt comfortable with an instructor that has this rule in place.  Usually when you find an instructor that only allows uniforms purchased from their school they are in it only for the money, so you may be careful. 

Also, some school have color rules and guidlines.  Some of them will only allow the traditional white Taekwondo uniforms.  There are also rules and guidlines when it comes to the traditional wrap style jacket or the V-neck style Taekwondo jackets.  So, make sure you ask the person in charge on why you should be looking for and you will be on the correct path.

If you are in Karate you will need to get a traditional wrap around style Karate Gi. If your chosen martial arts style is Judo then you will need different martial arts supplies especially when it comes to a Gi.  Karate is use a very thick gi with at least 12 oz Fabric material.
