Whenever liberals tee off on this subject I can’t help but wonder what they are thinking.

They are surely not intending to change conservative minds inasmuch as they have pretty well clarified that they do not believe that conservatives have minds let alone minds that can be changed.

So one can only conclude that liberals have taken to painting conservatives as racists in an effort to somehow sway their supporters and those who might support them to cast their votes on behalf of their candidates. It would appear to me that the flaw in this promotion strategy is that among true believers on both sides, charging conservatives as racist will energize more conservatives to vote than it will energize liberals. Let’s not forget that eighteen months ago the conservative fire was nearly burnt out. There are few things that the administration and its supporters have done which have stirred the remaining embers more than accusing everyone who disagrees them as being racist. And, as an Independent, I can assure you that I have taken sufficient umbrage at being lumped in with all of the rest of this nation’s racists for simply disagreeing with certain particular administration policies. I will be voting in November. And not in support of Democrats and the Obama administration. Mostly, because of my revulsion at being accused of having racist motives which drove my opposition to some of what the administration has done.

You know, it seems to me that even if the accusation that opponents to the administration are racists was true, that it is stupid. And it is stupid whether you are a Republican or a Democrat. From a Republican standpoint for more or less obvious reasons. But for all of the brilliance that Democrats and the administration displayed in getting elected last election, they are stupid beyond belief to raise the issue of racism to rally their own troops. It may indeed rally some of their own supporters. But it will energize many, many more of their opponents.
