Stainless steam autoclaves are used to kill harmful bacteria and viruses.
Surgery has its risks. There is a chance that a patient could have problems with the anesthesia and infection, and those are just to mention a few. To reduce the risks of infection, the operating room is a sterile environment. The room itself has to be disinfected. The persons in the room, including surgeons, surgical technologists, and nurses, must wear sterile gowns and gloves. The surgical instruments are autoclaved, making them sterile. Stainless steam autoclaves are used to kill harmful bacteria and viruses. The instruments are cleaned with antibacterial soap following surgical procedures. Blood and body tissue is removed from them. This is not enough though. Bacteria can live on the instruments. If they were used in another surgical procedure, the instruments could transmit bacteria into the body of the next patient. Infection would occur, and the patient could become very ill or even die. The instruments have to be placed in an autoclave. They are sterilized in it, and harmful bacteria is killed in the process.
